چکیده
Cognitive ability, personality, flexibility, health, and demographic predictors of the Memory Functioning Questionnaire (MFQ) were examined in a sample of 496 elders (mean age=73.2 yrs; M=207, F=289) in the Seattle Longitudinal Study. Five hierarchical regression analyses were conducted including six primary mental abilities, flexibility, personality, health, and demographic variables as predictors of four domains of metamemory. Attitudinal flexibility, psychometric speed flexibility, self rated vision and income accounted for 26% of the variance in the General Frequency of Forgetting. Attitudinal flexibility and perceived change in vision were significant predictors for Seriousness of Forgetting (R=.12). For the Mnemonics Usage, reasoning ability, personality trait of honesty, and interest in science showed significance (R=.26).

Spontaneous strategy use in children with autism spectrum disorder: the roles of metamemory and language skills
Metamemory, or beliefs about one's own memory capabilities, knowing what you know, and knowing what you don't know, has frequently been linked to the spontaneous use of rehearsal strategies in typically developing children. However, limited research has investigated mnemonic strategy use, metamemory, or the relationship between these two cognitive processes in children with autism spectrum diso...

OBJECTIVE Metacognitive methodologies are used to examine the integrity of self-referential processing in healthy adults and have been implemented to study disorders of the self-concept in neurologic and psychiatric populations. However, the extent to which metacognitive evaluations assess a uniquely self-evaluative capacity that cannot be explained fully by primary cognitive functions, demogra...
متن کاملRelations between children's metamemory and strategic performance: time-varying covariates in early elementary school.
Although much is known about the development of memory strategies and metamemory during childhood, evidence for linkages between these memory skills, either concurrently or over time, has been limited. Drawing from a longitudinal investigation of the development of memory, repeated assessments of children's (N=107) strategy use and declarative metamemory were made to examine the development of ...
متن کاملHow are memory complaints in functional memory disorder related to measures of affect, metamemory and cognition?
OBJECTIVE Memory complaints are a common finding in outpatients, especially in psychosomatic and neurological practice. In a substantial group of patients persistent memory complaints are found in the absence of abnormal neuropsychology. Different labels such as "functional memory complaint" have been suggested for this phenomenon. We characterise a group of patients with such memory complaints...
متن کاملMetamemory in patients with schizophrenia measured by the feeling of knowing.
Cognitive awareness in patients with schizophrenia is crucial for clinical management of cognitive deficits. Traditional approaches using self-report inventories have questionable validity and reliability. Using the Feeling-of-Knowing (FOK) procedure to measure metamemory might overcome such weakness. A cross-sectional study comparing 40 patients and 40 demographically matched normal controls, ...
